# Glossary

> Memberfy's terms in one line each, with the name they have on screen and in the API.

| **Section** | A group in the menu. | `Section`, `/api/sections` |
| **Space** | An area of the community, running one module. | `Space`, `/api/spaces` |
| **Module** | The space's type: feed, content, events, courses, gallery, ranking, link, call for papers, store, certificates. | `space.module` |
| **Who can post** | Who creates items in a space: Anyone, Staff or Admins. | `space.canCreate`: `anyone`, `staff`, `admins` |
| **Initial section** | The section that opens when someone comes into the community. | `section.isHome` |
| **Who gets in** | The list of groups, products and plans of a private space or section. | `access` |
| **Account** | The person's login, unique across the platform. | `Member` |
| **Profile** | The person inside a community, with a role. | `Profile` |
| **Role** | Owner, admin, moderator, finance or member. | `profile.role`: `owner`, `admin`, `moderator`, `finance`, `member` |
| **Visibility** | Who sees it: public, members, subscribers, private. | `visibility`: `public`, `members`, `plan`, `private` |
| **Group** | A set of members (a cohort, a team, a department). Can unlock access. | `MemberGroup`, `/api/member-groups` |
| **Tag** | A free-form label on the profile, for organizing. | `profile.tags` |
| **Product** | Something sold once: a course, a ticket, a mentoring session. | `Product`, `type: ONE_TIME` |
| **Billing option** | A recurring way to pay for a plan, such as Monthly or Annual. | `Product`, `type: SUBSCRIPTION` |
| **Plan** | A subscription tier that brings together billing options and benefits. | `SubscriptionGroup`, `/subscription-groups` |
| **Add-on** | A product only plan holders can buy, added on top of the plan. | `addOnProductIds` on the plan |
| **Contract length** | The minimum term of a monthly option. | `commitmentMonths` |
| **Annual in installments** | The whole year in one purchase, in up to 12 card installments. | `billingInterval: YEARLY` + `maxInstallments` |
| **Coupon** | A discount code. | `Coupon` |
| **Subscription** | A member's link to a billing option. | `ProductSubscription` |
| **Checkout** | The purchase: choosing, paying and unlocking access. | `/api/checkout` |
| **Platform fee** | What the community pays Memberfy per sale: 6.99% + R$ 2.49. | `platformFee` |
| **Balance** | The community's money that is available, retained or still to be released. | `/ledger/balance` |
| **Statement** | The lines for each sale, fee, refund and payout. | `/ledger` |
| **Payout** | The transfer of the balance to the community's account. R$ 3.67 each. | `/payouts` |
| **Business Information** | The details of who gets paid, approved before selling. | `/business-information` |
| **Visitor** | Someone who opens the community without being signed in: sees only what is public. | — |
