# Platform fee

> What the community pays Memberfy per sale (6.99% + R$ 2.49) and per payout (R$ 3.67), what it applies to, who pays it (the community or the buyer), the Fees tab and the calculator, with examples for each case.

The **platform fee** is what the community pays Memberfy on each charge made inside it. It covers payment processing (PIX, boleto and card), the checkout, the statement and the payout. You don't pay a separate gateway.

## The amounts

| | |
|---|---|
| **Per charge** | **6.99% + R$ 2.49** |
| **Per payout** | **R$ 3.67** |

Memberfy may agree different values with a community; when there is an agreement, the **Fees** tab shows your community's fee.

In the **Monetization › Fees** tab, they appear as **Processing Fee** (6.99%), **Per Approved Transaction Fee** (R$ 2.49) and **Transfer Fee** (R$ 3.67).

![The Fees tab (interface in Portuguese)](/screens/taxas.png "Fees & Payment Methods: the platform fee, the methods, the calculator and examples.")

On top of the fee, there is the **Memberfy plan subscription**, based on the community's number of members. The prices are at [memberfy.net/en-us/precos](https://www.memberfy.net/en-us/precos).

## How it works

### It doesn't depend on the payment method

**The platform fee is the same for PIX, boleto and card.** Getting paid one way or another doesn't change what the community pays. What changes between methods is how long the money takes to become available. See [PIX, boleto and card](/pagamentos/metodos-de-pagamento).

### What it applies to

On **each approved charge**:

- the sale of a product;
- a subscription's first charge;
- **each renewal** of a subscription;
- a [Pay now](/pagamentos/pagar-agora) payment;
- the prorated amount of an add-on added mid-cycle.

And it does **not** apply to:

- a declined charge or an expired PIX;
- a month without sales (*"No charges in a month means no fees that month"*);
- free members.

### The R$ 2.49 is per order

The fixed part is charged **once per order**, not per item. A plan bought with two add-ons, in a single payment, pays R$ 2.49 once. So does the combined renewal.

### On the discounted amount

With a coupon or a downsell, the fee is calculated on the amount **after** the discount.

### Installments

Installments don't change the platform fee: it is calculated on the amount without interest, and a sale in 12 installments pays the same fee as an upfront one.

Separate from the fee, there is **Memberfy's installment interest**, charged when the card payment is split into 2 or more installments:

| Installments | Interest (total on the amount) |
|---|---|
| 1× (upfront), PIX and boleto | None |
| 2× to 6× | 4.29% |
| 7× to 12× | 6.00% |

On each product, **Who pays the installment interest?** decides whether it is added to the installments (**Buyer**, the default) or taken from what the community receives (**Organization**). See [Annual in installments](/monetizacao/anual-parcelado#installment-interest).

### Who pays the fee: the community or the buyer

On each product and billing option, **Who Pays the Fees?**:

| Choice | The buyer pays | The community receives |
|---|---|---|
| **Organization** | The advertised price | The price minus the fee |
| **Buyer** | The price plus the fee, shown as **Platform fee** at checkout | The full price |

The form opens with **Buyer**: check it on each product.

### Payouts

**R$ 3.67 per payout**, added to the amount requested. See [Payouts](/pagamentos/saque).

> [!SOON]
> **Anticipation**: getting paid before the method's normal waiting period, paying 3% on the amount anticipated. Optional, decided on each payout.

## The calculator

In the **Fees** tab, the **Fee Calculator**:

1. Type the **Transaction Amount**.
2. Choose the **Payment Method** (PIX, credit card or boleto) and, for the card, the installments.
3. Click **Simulate**: you get the **Gross Amount**, the **Platform Fee** and **You Receive**.

The **Practical Examples** in the same tab show two ready-made cases: a R$ 100 PIX (fee R$ 9.48, final R$ 90.52) and a R$ 300 card payment in 1× (fee R$ 23.46, final R$ 276.54).

## Examples with numbers

| Sale | Fee (6.99% + R$ 2.49) | The community receives |
|---|---|---|
| R$ 49 (monthly fee) | R$ 3.43 + R$ 2.49 = R$ 5.92 | R$ 43.08 |
| R$ 100 (PIX) | R$ 6.99 + R$ 2.49 = R$ 9.48 | R$ 90.52 |
| R$ 129 (Growth Monthly) | R$ 9.02 + R$ 2.49 = R$ 11.51 | R$ 117.49 |
| R$ 297 (course, in 12 installments) | R$ 20.76 + R$ 2.49 = R$ 23.25 | R$ 273.75 |
| R$ 579 (Growth Monthly + Coworking, one order) | R$ 40.47 + R$ 2.49 = R$ 42.96 | R$ 536.04 |
| R$ 1,188 (Growth Yearly) | R$ 83.04 + R$ 2.49 = R$ 85.53 | R$ 1,102.47 |

**Fee paid by the buyer.** A R$ 49 monthly fee with **Buyer**: the checkout shows *Platform fee R$ 5.92* and a total of **R$ 54.92**; the community receives R$ 49.00.

**A whole month.** A community with 800 members, 200 of them subscribing at R$ 50 a month: 200 charges, R$ 10,000 in sales. The fee is 6.99% of R$ 10,000 (R$ 699) plus 200 × R$ 2.49 (R$ 498): **R$ 1,197**. With one payout in the month, another R$ 3.67. The Memberfy subscription is separate.

**A plan with a coupon.** Growth Monthly with 20% off (R$ 103.20): fee of R$ 7.21 + R$ 2.49 = R$ 9.70.

## Common errors and how to fix them

| Situation | Why |
|---|---|
| The buyer paid more than the price | **Who Pays the Fees?** is set to **Buyer** |
| The amount received is lower than the price | **Organization**: the fee comes out of the community's amount |
| The fee on an order with add-ons seems lower | The R$ 2.49 fixed part is charged once per order |
| The statement has a **Payout fee** | Each payout costs R$ 3.67 |

## Frequently asked questions

**Does PIX have a lower fee?**
No. The platform fee doesn't depend on the payment method.

No. It is the same on every plan.

**What if I don't sell anything in a month?**
You pay no fee at all: only the plan subscription.

**Does the fee include the payment processor?**
Yes. The 6.99% + R$ 2.49 is what the community pays for the sale; there is no separate gateway bill.

**Can I negotiate the fee?**
For large volumes, talk to the Memberfy team.

## In the API

`POST /api/fees/simulate` (`amount`, `paymentMethod`, `installments`, `feePayer`) returns a sale's platform fee. See [Payouts](/api/referencia/payouts).
