Link
A menu item that opens an address outside the community, such as a form, a chat group, a room booking calendar or the company website, with the same visibility as other spaces.
The Link module has no content of its own: it's a menu shortcut to an address outside the community. It appears in the menu like any other space, with an external link icon, and takes people straight to the address.
What it's for
| Community | Link |
|---|---|
| Online school | The sign-up form for the next class |
| Coworking | The room booking calendar |
| Customer community | The company's support center |
| Mentoring | The cohort's WhatsApp group, only for cohort members |
| Association | The institutional website |
The Link answers "where is that thing?" without people having to look for the address somewhere else.
How it works
- A Link has a title, an icon and a visibility, like other spaces, plus the external address.
- Visibility applies: a Private Link unlocked for a plan only appears for subscribers. That's how you share the chat group only with paying members.
- The address must be complete, with
https://: you get "Invalid URL format" when it isn't.
Who can
Creating and editing Links: owner and admin.
Step by step
Role: owner or admin.
- In the section, Add Space › Link, Next.
- Give it the Title that appears in the menu (e.g. Cohort group) and choose the icon.
- Under Link, paste the complete address, with
https://("Required for URL module type"). - Choose the Visibility.
- Create Space.
To change the address, Edit space and change the Link.
Examples
A WhatsApp group for subscribers only. A Subscribers' group Link, Private and unlocked for the plan. Non-subscribers see the Requires a plan lock.
The coworking room calendar. A Book a room Link in the Calendar section, Members, pointing to the booking tool.
Course materials on Google Drive. A Materials Link in the Student area, unlocked by the plan, pointing to the shared folder. Remember to set up the folder's sharing: the Link controls who sees the shortcut, not who opens the file.
Things to watch out for
- The Link controls who sees the shortcut in the menu, not who can open the address from outside. For sensitive content, protect it in the destination tool too.
- Prefer stable addresses: if the group or folder changes address, every member clicks a broken link until someone edits the space.
Common errors and how to fix them
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| Invalid URL format | Use the complete address, with https:// |
| The link opens an old address | Edit the space and change the Link |
Frequently asked questions
Can the Link point to another space in the community? Yes: paste the space's complete address. It's a way for a space to appear in two sections.
Can I measure how many clicks the Link got? Not through the community. Use a link shortener or campaign parameters in the address.
