Platform emails

Every email Memberfy sends on the community's behalf, in one table (account, security, events, call for papers, certificates and payments): what triggers each one, who receives it, whether it can be turned off, the language, the brand, and what to do when an email doesn't arrive.

The platform sends emails on the community's behalf, with its name and logo, in the recipient's language (or the community's, if the person never chose one). You don't configure anything for them to go out; this article lists them all, with what triggers each one and who receives it.

Why it helps to know

To answer "I didn't get the email" with confidence, and to know what the member has already received before you message them separately.

Every email

"Can it be turned off?" tells you whether there's a switch to stop it. Almost all of them are notices of something that happened to the person, and they always go out.

What sends no email

  • A post, a comment or a reaction: there are no community activity emails.
  • A new proposal, for the people organizing a call: the call's counter already shows it.
  • Promoting a call, an event or a plan: that's up to you, through the Feed or your own channels.

Brand and language

  • Name and logo: the community's (Settings › General).
  • Language: the recipient's; if the person never chose one, the community's main language. Sales notices go out in the community's language. See Languages.
  • Links: they point to the community's address.

When an email doesn't arrive

  1. Spam and promotions tabs: the first place to look.
  2. The right email: the address is the account's, the same in all of the person's communities. Check it in Members.
  3. Expired invite link: the link to set the password is valid for 7 days. After that, point them to Forgot password?.
  4. An existing account: the email is You were added to…, with no password link; the person signs in with the login they already have.
  5. Password recovery: the on-screen message is always the same, whether the account exists or not ("If the email exists, you will receive instructions…"). If nothing arrives, the email typed has no account.

Notifications inside the community

Coming soon The notification bell inside the community isn't turned on yet. For now, notices arrive by email.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the text of the emails? Not from the screen. The texts belong to the platform, in the supported languages.

Can I turn an email off? There's no switch to turn off account, security, event, call or payment emails: they all tell the person about something that happened to them. The sales notices recipient is configurable, and the certificate email can be turned off at each issuance.

Do the emails come from the community's domain? They come from the platform, with the community's name as the sender.
